How this calculator works
The 3D Speaker Box Volume Calculator sizes rectangular, tapered and hexagonal cabinets from external dimensions and wall thickness, then shows gross and net internal volume with a live 3D preview. Drag the 3D view with the mouse to rotate, or use the view buttons.
Shape options
- Rectangular — standard box. Width × Height × Depth.
- Tapered — wider at the front baffle, narrower at the back. Trapezoidal top view. Volume = ((frontWidth + backWidth) / 2) × Height × Depth.
- Hexagonal — rectangular front section with straight sides, then sides angle inward starting at the "taper starts at" distance. Six-cornered top view. Volume = rectangular portion + tapered portion.

Frequently asked questions
- Does material thickness affect volume? Yes — thicker walls reduce net volume significantly on small cabinets.
- What is a hexagonal cabinet? A cabinet with a full-width rectangular front baffle, straight sides for part of the depth, and then sides that angle inward toward a narrower back. Viewed from above the footprint has six corners.
- Is this gross volume the same as Vb for tuning? No. Subtract driver displacement, port, and bracing for vented-box calculations.
- Wall thickness unit? The wall thickness selector always shows centimetres regardless of the unit setting.
