How the speaker placement calculator works
Listening distance defines an equilateral or custom stereo triangle. Wall offsets and horn coverage estimate whether the listener sits inside the main beam and how far speakers should be from boundaries.
Key terms
- Listening triangle - listener and two speakers forming the stereo image.
- Toe-in - angling cabinets so axes cross at or slightly behind the listener.
- Coverage angle - included angle between -6 dB points; listener should be inside the beam.
Frequently asked questions
- How far from the wall should speakers be? Avoid placing woofers in a corner unless intentional; 0.5–1 m from boundaries often reduces boundary boost.
- What about PA delay? If speakers are at different distances, use the PA delay calculator to align arrival times.
